Not for the novice Jul 08, 2005
By DahlingD By the time you get to this book, you probably already know you should take classes, get a good demo etc. What you need to know is how to market yourself. To that end this book is a waste of time for the novice. Sure, if you're already a singer and have connections in show biz, why not switch gears and try out for voiceover? That's what the author did. This book irritated me -the author is pompous and the book is shallow at best. He doesn't spend enough time on how to market yourself, but encourages you to spend about $10K for an in home studio - if you REALLY want to make it in this business. This guy's condescending and as you take his advice, remember, HE's the only one doing any banking with this type of help.

Mr. Saulsberry Delivers the Secret Details Dec 24, 2004
By Don Reed As a creative director and copywriter of advertising & promo spots --the very ones that voice over artists read in the studio -- I know that Mr. Saulsberry has deliverd the secret details. Often times in guide publications on "how to" start in a business --essential secrets are left out. Perhaps this allows the writer of the publication to "retain an edge" even after he's written what is supposed to be the definitive book. Mr. Saulsberry, on the other hand, has given his weatlh of knowledge openly. The end result is a book that's part business plan - part motivational tool, opening doors, not leaving out important elements --so that an individual who actually has the passion to do this absolutely, unequivicolly CAN. A great read or listen (CD) for anyone in ANY business. The marketing elements are razor sharp and can burst a myriad of different kinds of business to the next level.

This Is The Truth Feb 17, 2006

"VO Artist"
I've been taking classes in NY and everything I'm learning is what is in this book! I recommend it if you're thinking about getting into the business. There are helpful websites listed in his book that I went to before I spent money on classes and I have been able to find out even more information. I was amazed at how much information is in here that instructors charge so much money for. Do it. The voice over world is yours.
