Good for a filter type lense addition Apr 02, 2009
By Josh Daniel S. Davis

April 2, 2009: This is good. This dropped the minimum focal distance on my A100 to about an inch, and gave good expansion. Image quality was generally clear and undistorted. I didn't use a square calibration map to verify exactly, but after all, this is an add-on filter-type lens and not an entire assembly, so that's more bother than it's worth.
Feb 9, 2010: For a little less, and stepping down in brand name, you can get a +1, +2, +4 and 10x diopter filter set with a bag. Effectively, you get this 10x, plus 3 extras, and a cheap bag, for about $8-$10 less. The product moves around, but as of Feb 2010, it was Digital Concepts +1 +2 +4 +10 Close-Up Macro Filter Set with Pouch (55mm). Your search term is "55mm macro filter set".

What fun it is! Jul 01, 2010

I have always loved to do macro photography, and when I got my A;pba 700, I knew I had to get the macro lenses for it. The Opteka 55 mm 10x macro lens is teriffic. I see no drop in quality at the corners, and clarity is excellent. Great product.

Nice little item for a prime lens! Jul 06, 2009
By S. Davis I screwed this into the end of a 50mm 1.4 Sony prime, and it really did a nice job! So far, I've only taken some sample picks hand-held. Thanks to the anti-shake feature in the Sony alpha, I actually have a few shots that came out, and they look fine. I think you basically will have to use a tripod with this to get anything that you would want to have others really be impressed by. Still, there are enough situations where quickly being able to screw in a 10x lens into my prime could be handy.

I first bought this product as a curiosity cause I wanted to try somethng new on my camara.... I have a DSLR Sony A350 and this lens works great on it..... for the price paid and the quality of the pictures I've taken I would definitely say that this is a great product and also recommend to everyone who is looking for something not very expensive and that can give the final result needed.
