 Bug ridden Jun 21, 2010
I've been using and paying for Paint Shop Pro since ver. 3.x. The program has been going down hill ever since Corel took over JASC. Version X2 is usable as long as you don't mind re-installing it every 6 months or so and having it lock up or crash regularly. Doesn't matter if it's on Windows XP or Vista. And that's on a carefully maintain PCs with plenty of resources. Random bugs appear for no apparent reason and the Corel website is useless in resolving them. Version X3 was so bad that I un-installed it and got a refund from Corel and went back to X2. I wish I could get the money back for the THREE copies of X2 that I own, I'm tired of the random problems that interrupt my work. I've begun doing my main photo editing in another program now but still would like to use X2 for some things (hey, I paid for it) but Corel and their bugware have worn me out. Maybe there's a good shareware program out there that is as good as the Jasc version of PSP was.

A great product for the price you pay. clean up your photos and do some minimal vector graphics all in one easy to learn program! The video provides guideance right on your computer no classes to take online.

 Don't Buy!!! May 10, 2010
Two main reasons:
1. Bad post sale support. I bought my new version of Paint Shop a few month ago. One of the portion of the software had installation error that caused by bad CD section. However, I found it is imposible to contact Corel customer service by any means.
2. I've been using Paint Shop for years. I found the old version could not keep the photo taken date on Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows XP was OK). Then I verified that Paint Shop Pro X2 is Vista compatible, and I bought it. However, the lost photo taken date problem still there. I managed to get Corel technical support for this issue. The support seemed did not know what they were doing. They pumped many useless information to me. Eventually, I was able to let them escalate the issue to up level support. It took long time to hear the response: there was a bug in the X2 version. Their recommendation: I should spend more money to buy their newer release, X3 version. Even worse, they were not sure if the issue was fixed in the new version.

This is an awesome program but it is not a super easy program. But, you will be amazed at all the cool stuff you can do, awesome graphics and picture editing it is all there. Make sure you take the tutorials that came with the disc. First you need to have a good system with 2gb of ram or more and a decent video card. This will help you make the most of this software. Then go online and find tutorials that will help you make the most of this software. I highly recommend the "Michele's Paint Shop Newbie 101" Do a search and find this site. Then as you begin to master this program your enjoyment and satisfaction will increase tremendously. It is by far the best money I have spent this year. So if you have time and are ready for a rewarding challenge get it. You will not regret it.
