I found this book very useful May 08, 2001 This book is always at arm's reach in my office. It is written in plain English, so that you don't have to be an advertising executive to put Kathy's methods to work. It takes a lot of the fear and mystery out of advertising and guides you step-by-step. Furthermore, Kathy is obviously well versed in all typres of media (TV, Radio, Outdoor, etc.) which is not always the case. This is helpful for the small business owner as he/she may not be able to afford TV but can afford Direct Mail. If you are unsure about any kind of advertising on the local level, this book is a must. You really will come away feeling confident that you can put together a successful advertising plan. I wish I had this book ten years ago when I was starting out. I would have had a working knowledge of advertising that employed common sense.

A good investment... Mar 12, 2001 Great book! Gives advertisers all the inside secrets that take years to learn. Especially good is the section about how to get the most value from the advertising salespeople who call on you. Clearly written and fun to read.

This book got me tuned in (no pun intended) Apr 10, 2000 I am the owner of a small business, having undertaken this after having retired from government work after many years. With a career background in government, I hardly brought advertising skills to my new venture. Like many other persons new to starting a small business, I probably have made some assumptions about where my sales can be based upon my personal (and uninformed) beliefs. In a format that is inviting to the beginner such as myself, this book has enlightened me as to nuances and strategies of advertising which I simply could not have conceptualized on my own. I am thus now in the position to make some rational and better - informed decisions with regard to advertising my retail operation. Good book !

This book is a lifesaver! Dec 18, 1998 I own a small business and this book has helped me get through the confusion of advertising by myself. The worksheets took all the guesswork out of advertising on my own. I also have a better idea of how to work with sales reps when they approach me for commercials. You can tell from the way the book is written that the author really knows about business. I wish I had this book as a guide 5 years ago when I started out!

This book will give you the edge over your competitor. Dec 18, 1998 I recently finished school and was in the process of opening an agency of my own, with only my wife for a part-time evening co-worker. This book helped me side step many costly mistakes that any beginner could easily make. The detail this book provided, exploring every aspect of the advertising process, is worth its weight in gold. Excellent job.
