5Great alternative to Garage Band  Jan 02, 2009 By Angela Wilson "I love books & DVDs!"
I recently switched my home office to Mac, after years of PC here and Mac at work. I'm in heaven. I heard Garage Band worked great for editing, but not for me. I was too used to Adobe Audition.

While Soundbooth isn't as friendly in a few features as Audition (which could honestly be the learning curve), it is so much more intuitive than Garage Band, which is a waste of hard drive space for me. (I do podcasting, not music recording. Perhaps GB works better for musicians.) I can easily edit in this program, mix down and share. The HELP section is great, and it comes with a help CD from Lynda.com, the premiere source for Adobe tutorials.

If you have used any Adobe product, you will easily pick up in Soundbooth. All the programs are symbiotic and structured in a similar way.

KUDOS to Adobe for creating environmentally-friendly packaging for Soundbooth.

5Best audio editing for non-specialists  May 25, 2010 By PPerkins "MuseumMaven"
We purchased this version to replace a lost CS3 product I used for sound editing at work. I am not a specialist, but I found Soundbooth the easiest and quickest program when editing sound effects and voice-overs for audio guides in a museum. Love the clean-up tools, filters and easy-to-manipulate menus and interface. Familiarity with other Creative Suite products made it very easy to learn. New CS4 [[ASIN:B001EUG3WO Adobe Soundbooth CS4 [Mac] version makes it easier to work with multiple tracks.

2Likeable but unstable, incomplete  Dec 11, 2009 By Mr. V
After a short test run, I bought the software. I've moved my editing/mixing setup to my iMac, and liked the interface and familiarity -- I would have bought Audition for Mac, but there's no such thing (it's Windows only), and I really don't have any other call to run Windows.

Soundbooth is _like_ Audition, except the fade functions are cumbersome to the point of frustration and the Adobe tech response to this frustration in user forums is silly.

Soundbooth is also prone to crashing (see the reviews of the Windows version), which makes me sad. I'm holding out hope that updates will remedy this problem.
