5Adobe-Matrox software is awesome  Dec 23, 2011 By Joe Nugent "video visions"
I have been using Adobe Software (Premier Pro, Soundbooth, Audition, After Effects, and Photoshop) to make movies for 5 years now. For the past 4 years I used the CS3 version of Windows together with Matrox SoftwareHARDWARE, RTX2 HARDWARE ONLY for real-time viewing during editing. Because of the length of the documentaries I am making, my computer needed a memory upgrade from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. As a result, I also had to change the operating system from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit to see my movie upgrade. I needed CS4Adobe Photoshop CS4 - Old Version because Matrox and CS3 would work together on a 64-bit platform, and Adobe's current CS5.5 releaseAdobe CS5.5 Production Premium would require a more expensive computer upgrade. Because CS4 is not the current Addobe release, I was fortunate to find a reliable CS4 upgrade on Amazon at a terrific price. The installation was very difficult, and Adobe is not always helpful at this level. The matrox technical staff guided me through the computer upgrade, especially making sure that all of my drivers were correct for my system, and I only had to purchase one technical (my Matrox system was way out of warranty) token for continuing service for 3 days. I am very happy with the way CS4 works. The new features: Windows Media Encoder, and the ability to use Premier Pro to choose between importing movie sequences rather than whole Adobe projects, has made my work much faster and improved my computer performance immensly. While the effort to make the upgrade and installation work correctly was very frustrating, it paid off in the end. I really like purchasing from Amazon because I always receive the real product; the delivery is usually prompt, and I do not have to worry about being disappointed with my purchase if I take the time to research it before I buy it.

1Adobe Soundbooth CS4 "Sucks & Crashes"  May 15, 2010 By J. Legac
If you like to waste time and get a real BAD software, then you can get "Adobe Soundbooth CS4".
This one is always crashing, editing a very light works and even when you want to save your work.
This is a real frustrating tool.
My advice... Run out of this product.

1CS3 to CS5 Upgrade Consideration (Save $600!)  Apr 27, 2010 By L. Bramlett "Teknolg Wife"
Adobe announced CS5 in Jan 2010, which means for CS3 (c. 2007) owners you will have to purchase the CS5 Upgrade at $1,200 dollars.
If you buy this CS3-to-CS4 upgrade for $900, and then the CS4-to-CS5 at $900 you lose $600! ($1,800 TOTAL versus $1,200).
So just buy the CS5 Upgrade instead of this, or stick to CS3 until you can upgrade. The changes in CS4 are negligible.

Normal (non-Adobe) companies treat "loyal" software customers (registered owners with previous CS3 versions) with a tiered discount over someone having an ancient version (CS2 or less). This is not the case, if you are not on only the latest version (CS4), when CS5 was released you must buy the general upgrade version at a much higher price, close to a full purchase again.

Adobe's support staff will even talk you into spending the $1,800 instead of $1,200 to get you to CS5 (some loyalty).
Sadly, Adobe is horrible in honoring any customer loyalty, let alone offering qualified support.
Hope this helps.

3sucks out-of-box but overall good product  Apr 06, 2010 By J. Kressin "HorsepowerPro"
This is my 3rd edition of an Adobe Creative Suite, having now owned CS1, CS3 and now CS4. CS1 was the only positive out-of-box experience I have had among the three. In both CS3 and CS4, I spent hours on the phone with Adobe support only to have to resort to install them on a clean drive with a clean OS that did not have the previous products installed. It's very frustrating to buy a product this pricey and not be able to use it for a few days because it conflicts with the previous version of the product.
Having said that, I actually do love the creative suites but I hope adobe figures out how to make it work on an existing editor before CS5 is released.

5All you can eat...  Apr 05, 2009 By Jim
CS4 has all you need to create amazing work for print or the web. It's not cheap, but it's a great suite of software.
